Stories

Story 1:
Everything would be perfect. The countless hours in the gym, studying, getting where I want never seemed so easy. My perfect future would necessarily begin with myself being noticed at a university for potential in either of the two sports I love so much; Basketball and Football. I get a big break with tuition and don't really have to worry about it, and with that, get to quit my job. Skipping through to a professional career, I would have it all in terms of talent. Rookie of the year and MVP? Unheard of. With that maybe even a ring. The greats are established after their careers are over, but it wouldn't be hard to see what all the fuss is about when it came to me. Hard work would really shine through my ability. All of the accolades in the world would be filled in my trophy room and with them the many championships I would win. Money just wouldn't be a problem for me. Id have a kid or two, maybe a son, I feel like a daughter would be a bad match for me. All in all the cars, houses and endorsements would just be a comparison to the feeling I would have when I stepped on the field.

Story 2:
Perhaps instead of my plan A, things get a little wound up. I meet with a university coach and during the meeting, things get a little off. He gets a call and has to leave the office for a second and I'm left alone. Things are different. I notice something off to the side of his desk, a safe, cracked open. I get nosy and peek a little, well maybe more than a little. Hes got tons of stolen diamonds in the safe of all sizes and cuts. Thats my big break. Forget a potential career in the league, this is millions on millions, maybe billions in diamonds. I grab em and put them into my bag, and peek out of the office. I see the coach walking slowly back on his cell through a long hallway, maybe 50 yards away. I figure the only way out is the window, and thats what I do. I slide out and shut the window as best as possible. I get back to my place of residence, and alert everybody that we're rich, but need to get out. I move, buy businesses and make billions, but one day realize that things seem a little weird. Feels like I'm being watched. Flashback to that day and I realize I've forgotten one little detail with my momentum in the moment. I left the safe wide open.

Story 3:
In this life, I get paid for the most ridiculous things. I get to try things of all kinds out, and get paid millions for it. Food, music, activities, its like I live an exotic vacation 24/7 365. Every month something new. New culture, new games, new places to visit, new everything. I essentially get to travel and live the most exotic, high-lives of every possible place. From Argentina to Zimbabwe, I get to experience it all. I never have to worry about a thing, and as a bonus get to retire any time, to any place I choose. Its sort of a retirement gift/fund that is given to me as a thank you for my work. Not conventional, but its something different. Fancy cars, fancy clothes, I get to experience everything and simply give feedback on it. People simply cant get a better life than this.

Immovable Object

I am an immovable object
my destiny is my own
those who conspire against it have another thing coming
business is business
and ones one success is their own
but none will stand in my path

This path of mine is a cleared crop field
with its clarity open like the parted red sea
I can indeed see my path for it is open to me
the future holds success with my strength
though my size may not be massive
I stand a height modest to athletes
yet shall dominate with the conspiring of the universe

My hard work is noticed by the supernatural
and is rewarded with an aggression that cannot be satisfied
a strange combination yet it is one that benefits me endlessly

I am a perfectionist whom has an obsessive disorder with winning
I cannot be stopped nor can I be displaced
my success and wealth will only be second
to my love for winning and my passion for growing

The spoils of the war that is the human condition
will only be sufficient if I am able to find serenity with my lust for power
it is amazing that I am on the parted path in which the light is so clear
it is amazing that the universe conspires for me
it is an immovable object

  1. Tyler,

Great poem and image of a tunnel for your ending. That's a great finale. Nice touch.

The poem this week is one of your strongest - in that it goes a bit deeper, into a more strange and ethereal place, it has mystique. I like that. It shows that your pondering into deeper levels of thought, finding fun imagery to play with (red sea), and conveying lessons that your pulling together from this course.

    Great imagination at play.

Good stories, too. They are well written and captivating. I didn't see a diamond heist coming, that was cool.

Great work and superb effort. I like how you've decided to finish strong. Right to the end.
